The AML (1.6+) Sigma  achromat close up

 

Before buying the 5T I used extensively the Sigma AML achromat close up lens coupled with my zooms. It is a 2 elements achromat with filter thread of 58mm and was once sold by Sigma as an optional for its  70-210 or 70-300 zooms . Its diopter value is around +1.6, slightly more than the Nikon 5T (+1.5).

 

I bought it in a second hand photo market for the equivalent of 7 euros:

despite its cheap price it performs well.

 

A little test of the Sigma AML on the Nikkor 70-210 F4-5.6 Af (on D70) compared with the 5T I bought later also to avoid the need of the 62-58 step down ring:
