Tamron 90 f2.5 Macro with D200
Joining together an old and a new jewel
The Tamron 90 f 2.5 macro is an old lens with an excellent reputation, an italian photographer used it on its Contax cameras and stated that it could match the zeiss lenses for sharpness and colour rendition.
So, when I found an used one for 60 euros (plus 20 euros for the adaptall 2 ring to fit Ai nikon mount) I wanted to give it a try, especially because my D200 can meter with non CPU lenses. Indeed the results of the combo are nothing short of amazing.

This little gem reaches 1:2 RR at 39 cm (1:1 with a converter), it is small, but built like a tank and does not extend too much while focusing. The helicoid has a smooth, creamy action just like good old Nikkors and Zeiss, not last, the BBAR coating ensures very good color rendition.
The following shots are untouched for what concerns sharpness, saturation and other parameters, only converted from NEF to jpeg.
Please keep in mind that these are just test shots without any pictorial value (awaiting for good weather, it's March 2006 to make something worth of):
